Hello there,

My name is Eddy Johns and I'm a 24-year-old acoustic/folk singer-songwriter, based around London. I am drawing towards the end of a summer festival tour of the UK and this winter I will be recording my debut album, and I'm looking for a cellist to collaborate with on gigs and recordings. I moved to London 2 years ago and have since been playing shows regularly across the acoustic and folk scenes of London, playing at venues such as The Bedford, Dingwalls, and The Troubadour. Currently I perform with a classically-trained violinist, but I'd like to add some further depth to the sound now by involving a cello. Generally, my violinist and I work together to create the violin arrangement, but she often improvises too. I'd be happy to write a score for the cello, or if you'd prefer a more free flowing approach, then that would work fine too. It's all very relaxed really - I'm quite serious about the music but it is also really great fun, and gigging across London must be one of the best pastimes out there!

The material I write is influenced greatly by contemporary folk music from the 60s and 70s (Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, Leonard Cohen etc..) plus more modern bands with an alternative/progressive edge (Radiohead, Fleet Foxes ...). My songs are melodic and lyrical, with fingerstyle guitar underneath the vocal melodies. I listen to a fair dose of classical music, and rather than following a traditional "bass guitar and drums" approach to building up the sound, I'm looking to have an orchestral-themed backdrop with the violin and cello string section, and perhaps more later on down the line...

Generally, I play about twice a week in London, with one of the "bigger" gigs every month or so. It would be great if you can make it to the bigger gigs, and then others you can come and go to as you please!
