We are seeking a bright, experienced nanny to work with this family who have two children E aged 11 and M aged 13. M has a chromosomal disorder and as a result has learning difficulties and developmental delay. M understands everything that is said to her, but it just takes her longer to do things or things are a little more difficult for her. She is an emerging reader and writer, but finds maths difficult. She responds well to positive praise, but can find it difficult if someone is watching her carry out activities and she feels pressure to succeed. M loves her special school and stays over on a Tuesday night. M has various exercises which the nanny will help her with including speech and language and physiotherapy. M has low muscle tone and swimming is an important activity to help with this. She can be easily distracted, so needs to be watched by roads etc. E is a bright, polite young man who although he has a lovely understanding of his sisters needs, sometimes finds it difficult as he becomes more self conscious. He is doing well at school and part of the position will be to support and guide him with while he does his homework. This role is for both children as they both have their individual needs. The family employer a cleaner who does all the household cleaning and ironing. The nanny will be expected to clean up after herself and the children and make sure the house is clean and tidy before mum and dad come back from a busy day at work. The children's clothes will need to be kept in good order and everything ready for the next day for school. There will be some shopping and general errands. The children are good eaters and enjoy proper, fresh food, so the nanny needs to enjoy cooking too. E is learning to play the cello so someone with an interest in music would be helpful. The family are getting a puppy next month, so a dog lover is essential! This family is well known to SNAP who have successfully placed previous nannies.
Only applicants with relevant experience will be considered, please quote V1296 when applying. SNAP Childcare is the leading specialist recruitment agency for nannies and care workers who wish to work with babies, children and young adults with additional needs - and their siblings!
