City based Insurance company need a Compliance & Reporting Manager Role for a 6 month Maternity Cover. The role will pay between £45 and £50k
The client is looking to interview at the beginning of April for a materntiy cover of 6 months [with a view to extend] and are hoping to commence the contract at the beginning of June for a 1 month handover prior to the incumbert going on materntiy leave at the beginning of July
The role is incorporated within the Underwriting Management Team and reports directly to the Underwriting and Operations Manager. The role consists of compliance and operational elements and requires a good understanding of both areas. There is a strong compliance culture within the Division and a good record of operational effectiveness. This role is important in ensuring that the Division maintains the strong control framework which surrounds its underwriting function and that management has a regular and accurate overview of these controls.
The role consists of:
Compliance
• To act as a first point of contact for regulatory and compliance bulletins
• To determine applicability to Marine Division of bulletins and to distribute as necessary and ensure necessary actions are taken to ensure compliance
Reporting
• To summarise results and report to both Divisional and Group Management
• To take necessary actions to address any problem areas
Audit
• To be the main divisional interface with Group Audit assisting in their reviews and preparation of their reports and reviewing findings and draft reports
• To ensure the Marine Division takes necessary actions to comply with audit findings and recommendations
Peer Review
• To take necessary actions with underwriters to ensure divisional compliance with group targets
EPI Management
• To ensure that regular Credit Risk reports are actioned by underwriting staff in a timely and accurate manner
Budget
• To help the Underwriting and Operations Manager and the Divisional Underwriter (the budget holder) in the annual budget creation process
• To monitor Divisional performance against the budget
The candidate must be/have :
• Audit background in Financial Services
• Part or newly qualified [with at least 3 years of audit experience]
• Role is a mix of 70% operational / 30% compliance which will be easier to pick up [not looking at compliance person].
• Good spoken and written communication is essential as there is interaction with underwriters and to follow up on communications within the Marine Division.
• Ability to communicate in the division in a user friendly language important forwarding out bulletins, updates etc and able to present information in meetings.
• Monitoring role, reporting deadlines.
