About Todi: Located in southern Umbria, the picturesque hillside town of Todi is a small capsule of Italian history. Its three walls reflect subsequent periods of dominance: the innermost Etruscan wall built during the 8th to 7th century B.C., the middle Roman wall, and the outermost medieval wall. Full of noteworthy medieval churches and Roman sites, Todi is perhaps most famous for the 7th century San Fortunato Palaeo-Christian temple, the 11th century cathedral located in the Piazza del Popolo, the 16th century Palazzo Vescovile by Vignola, and the 16th century church of Santa Maria della Consolazione, often attributed to Bramante (of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome). Todi makes a perfect base for exploring the nearby historic towns of Perugia, Orvieto, Spoleto and Assisi.
