When we go down
With the sun
And vanish from this plain
And all witness to the story
That you and I
Ever set foot here
Never to return again,
What remains,
What is left,
Is the universe
Without man
A poorer place,
Or is the rich seam
Of her unfolding
Beyond the human race
And we a necessary prelude
To a greater aim,
A greater light,
A greater heartbeat
Of love and pain?
