Our client has offices in both Cambridge and London and are seeking a dedicated LINUX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR to play a major part in the development of an exciting new project.
The chosen candidate is required to have a proven track record in the administration of live customer facing systems, hosting of web services and onsite customer support. Responsibilities include; working with customer support on the management of live customer databases, contributing to 24/7 coverage for live web based products, first line support of in-house infrastructure( both Linux and Windows based), test and deployment to a international client base.
A key requirement is an understanding of highly reliable production level systems and database administration maintenance (database design desirable), as is use and management of version control tools such as Subversion. In-depth knowledge of network administration concepts, clustered application configurations and architecture, web based protocols and security considerations is essential.
It would be advantageous but not essential to have a IT related degree or equivalent and a relevant industry recognised certification (Redhat preferred).
Bonus skills include - HTTP, DNS, DHCP, SSL and other related encryption technologies, Apache Web Server, JBoss Java Application Server, Postgres Database, and Shell scripting using languages such as Bash and Perl. Also, skills and knowledge in Active directory, Windows Server 2003/2008, SQLServer and Exchange 2007 are highly advantageous.
