Two friendly professional guys looking for housemates in lovely new house (£105 pw)
Hi all,
Me and my housemate Tim have just got a lovely new house in Clapton, just over the road from Stoke Newington, but we’re looking for two other people to fill it up.
The place: It’s really a nice, proper four large double bedroom house, only a few years old with two bathrooms, a good sized kitchen diner and a garden. Of the two rooms left, both with double beds, one is a very good size and one is slightly smaller (pictured) but still perfectly decent. We’ve not quite worked out how to split the rent yet, but imagine the larger room will be around £500, and the smaller around £450. Don’t think any bills included I’m afraid, and I think there will be a bit extra with estate agent fees. There is also a car parking space (currently going spare, as neither me nor Tim drive). The property will be managed by the estate agents who will hopefully be a bit less incompetent and crooked than your average landlord! More pictures are available on request.
The location: It’s on Monteagle Way, a new road with all new houses on it, near to Rectory Road station. The lengthy Google Street view link below shows the house, just click on the minus button to zoom out to a map view:

I really like Clapton itself – it’s so far resisted the creeping gentrification of Hackney so still has a real mix of local characters, young people and families and reminds me a bit of Dalston a few years ago. Our favourite local pub is the Royal Sovereign - http://www.fancyapint.com/pubs/pub3459.php . Hackney Downs park is only five minutes away, and its only ten minutes walk both to multicultural and now uber-trendy Dalston and vibrant, well-to-do Stoke Newington with lots of nice cafes and bars and Clissold Park down the road.
Rectory Road train station takes you to Liverpool Street, you can get a bus to Finsbury Park station in under half an hour (including the wait!) and there are various nearby buses going all over the place. It’s in E4, Zone 2.
About us: Well I’m Chris and my housemate is Tim. We’re 26 and 28 respectively, both professionals (Defra and Hackney Council), male and British. One of us is straight and the other gay and we’ve both got nice partners who will be about a bit but not moving themselves in! We’re friendly, outgoing and fairly relaxed and although we’re not cleanliness obsessives by any means, I think we’ve all done our time living in hellholes, so it will be nice to keep the place decent.
About you: In terms of a housemate, we’re looking for a friendly and reliable person essentially. We’re not bothered about gender, age, race, sexuality, religion or any such like, as long as you've got a live and let live mentality. Most importantly, we want someone who wants to be friends with their housemates and get to know us. Obviously everyone needs a bit of space, and London living means we won't all be in at the same time, but we don't want anyone who's going to hide in their room and refuse to spend time with anyone else! We’re fond of the odd house party and like a good night out, but work office hours so it won’t be a 24 hour party person place. Couples are welcome but we might ask you to pay a bit more rent.
We move in on 21st November so will ideally be looking to find the right housemates in the next two weeks. We’ve put down a holding deposit, and will be signing the contract in the next few days – we’re imagining it will be for a year, but will see if we can get a six month break clause put in. We’ll need to see proof of regular employment and ID at some point.
Think that's all, sorry it's a bit of an essay but so many ads on here don't tell you much. If you're interested get in touch and I can answer any questions and arrange for you to come see it.
Thanks, Chris
