My client is a mixed 3-11 community primary school located in the heart of Newham. An over subscribed mainstream school with a superbly equipped Autism resource provision that caters for fifteen students on a full time basis. The students within the provision have a Statement of Special Educational Needs and have a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder or Social Communication issues. The provision specifically creates an autism-friendly environment which allows each child the best opportunity for learning and enjoying school life.


This position will suit an experienced ASD KS2 teacher who has the skill and patience suited to the role. A professional who understands that they will need to adapt their teaching techniques and delivery methods appropriately to be effective. These adaptations may include working at a different level of the National Curriculum than that matched to the chronological age of the pupils; breaking the units of work down into smaller steps; selecting topics that are linked to the mainstream curriculum; opportunities to develop the pupil’s special skills and interests. Most of the pupils work on the Special Needs P-Scales.
