A position has arisen in a client school for an experienced Science Teacher to start in January.

The School is a secondary aged special school for pupils with learning needs, sometimes associated with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

The school received the Investors in People Award in 2000, 2001, 2004 (new standards) and 2007, the DfES School Achievement Award in 2001 and again in 2002 and the DfES Healthy Schools Award in 2002, The Artsmark and Sportsmark Awards in 2007. They were also awarded SEN Specialist Status in September 2007.

The school underwent a major refurbishment and alteration during 1997 at a cost of nearly a million pounds. The specialist rooms were upgraded or redesigned and classrooms redecorated and refurbished. The administrative area was also redesigned, with an enlarged staff room and preparation area, new toilets and shower facilities, a meetings room and a much more secure entry system. In addition, parking for staff and visitors was improved and a new entrance area created.

This has created facilities that can deliver a secondary curriculum in an environment that meets the current and projected needs of pupils.

There are specialist rooms for art, music, science, food technology and design technology. In addition there is a library, a self contained area for Year 11 pupils, six classrooms, a Learning Resource Centre and supervised area together with a room where speech and occupational therapists are based.

Ideally the school is looking for an experienced SEN Science teacher however they would consider candidates with strong classroom management skills, confident in themselves and can make an impact.

You will be required to teach Science across the school to classes of no more than 12 students with 2 TA’s.
