First steps in Creative Writing Stoke Newington course
First steps in Creative Writing – a 3-day course for Complete Beginners
Ever thought about putting pen to paper, but didn’t know where to start?
This friendly, supportive course reveals and explains three of the most important principles of creative writing, allowing you to start writing short stories or novels. (The same ideas are also useful to those with an interest in writing personal experience.)
Over a 3-week period – one workshop each Saturday – we explore key areas of the craft of writing. The workshops, led by experienced creative writing mentor N Quentin Woolf, include some practical, hands-on elements alongside teaching and discussion, in a relaxed atmosphere.
Discover:
• What makes a story
• The art of thinking like a writer
• Ways to drive your plot forward
• How to develop characters
• Techniques for plot construction
• How to edit your writing effectively
Alongside the central topics there will be tips on developing the creative habit and other aspects of creative writing. There will also be opportunities to discuss areas of creative writing that are of particular interest to you.
