Internships and Work Experience Immediate Start
Are you looking for experience within the magazine industry? If so this may be the position for you.
INTERN REQUIRED FOR THREE MONTH PLACEMENT AT A LUXURY PUBLISHING HOUSE IN LONDON...
Runwild Media Group is a small and dynamic publishing house based in Canary Wharf, London. Publishing a selection of luxury lifestyle magazines including titles such as Canary Wharf Magazine, The City Magazine, and Venue – The Official Magazine of The O2 we require talented interns to work on a three-month voluntary basis.
Why be an intern at Runwild Media Group?
Runwild Media Group is an exciting place to be. Our interns are able to see the entire process of putting together the magazine to ensure they get a grasp on the entire operation required to get a magazine to print, from researching stories all the way through to the marketing campaigns.
The magazine has a small staff, therefore interns are given a substantial amount of responsibility so self-motivated interns will benefit most from the program.
We offer one internship placement per three-month term. We also ask for a full-time commitment for the duration of the placement.
What our interns do?
Part of our mandate as a magazine is to foster the next generation of publishers, editors, stylists, journalists and marketing professionals. Successful interns will therefore work with all the team across the different departments to realise every aspect of the magazine.
Tasks will include helping with the creative, administrative and yes, sometimes even the menial tasks necessary to put out this exciting portfolio of magazines. You’ll get a chance to help with assessing story ideas, fact-checking, copy-editing, proofreading, event planning and much, much more. The internship also provides a chance to sharpen your writing skills. Additionally, you will be given an opportunity to learn and practice key research skills (reporting, library and online background research, and more) that will serve you well for a career in magazine publishing.
The work as an intern is plentiful and varied, and so is the range of skills and aptitudes needed: the ability to produce snappy, sharp writing for stories and press releases, patience for the detail-oriented world of fact-checking and circulation. And of course, publishing a small, independent magazine requires an ability to take risks and work under the pressure of deadlines.
Interns often take on projects in their own area of interest, after getting a taste for each of the areas of magazine publishing.
How to apply
To apply please drop us an email with the following attached:
1. Your CV.
2. A covering letter, stating when you are available and explaining why you would like to be an intern. Tell us a little bit about yourself including your interests and why you feel you would be suited for the role.
Points to Note:
This is an unpaid position but we do strive to make sure that the internship is as useful, educational and stimulating as possible. The internships start at the beginning of October, January, April and July, and run for three months. We accept applications throughout the year, on a rolling basis. Also due to the magazine’s publishing schedule and our own constraints in terms of staff time, we don’t have the resources to accommodate internships outside of the established cycle.
If you think this position is the right one for you please email r.walton@runwildgroup.co.uk
