Spanish speaking interpreters needed in Costa Rica & Nicaragua in 2010
Raleigh, an education charity which relies on teams of experienced volunteer managers in project and field based roles to help run community, environment and adventure expeditions for young people (venturers) aged 17-24 from all walks of life.
'It was rewarding to see the young people making the effort to get through to the locals over a few games of football - and it usually involves acting like a three year old' Alex Mackay
Requirements
Aged 25 to 80, common sense, flexibility, drive, teamworking and some roles require specialist skills
The responsibilities
Enhance the experience for venturers by bridging language gaps between them and the local community.
Assist in ensuring that the host country venturers are an integral part of the project team.
Assist in managing the relationship between the project team and the project partner on any given project.
Other communal tasks when at field base.
The skills
Willingness to be flexible and put the needs of the expedition and the venturers first.
Be fluent in both written and spoken Spanish (preferably Latin American Spanish) and English.
Be able to teach basic Spanish and encourage the volunteer management team and venturers to communicate with the locals.

The benefits:
Youll be making a genuine difference to host communities and environments - with a permanent field base in each country our staff are able to build long-term relationships with project partners to ensure the projects are worthwhile and sustainable.
You get to explore off-the-beaten track because Raleigh gets into areas other tourists dont have access to.
You gain satisfaction from helping venturers on their way to being the best they can be, developing your own confidence and learning many new skills along the way .
Raleigh welcomes people from all backgrounds and nationalities, including the host country, so youll experience a unique exchange of cultures and make long-lasting friendships.
One thing is certain - there is no such thing as a typical day on a Raleigh expedition!
