Scattering of Ashes on the River Thames
The Maritime Volunteer Service (MVS) . is a charity set up in 1994 after Royal Naval Auxiliary Service disbanded. As a charity, our remit is to teach maritime skills and heritage to our members as well as members of the public. One of the services we provide is to Scattering Ashes of loved ones on the River Thames for a donation to the unit running costs.
Due to us being dressed in naval uniform and also we are one of the few non-military organisations the Queen allows to fly a Defaced Red Ensign, with us having our naval history, we believe we offer a sense of occasion. We are based in central London near St Katherines Dock and Tower Bridge.
Our vessel, Londinum 1 can take a maximum of 12 guests , but 6 is much more manageable number for this ceremony.
A sample schedule can be as below : Final times / pick up/depart points to be agreed closer to the date and depedning on tides and your requirements.
10:00 Guests board vessel at near Tower Bridge.
10:15 Depart central London, Travel down river to Greenwich then back up towards central London
13:00 Arrive Destination: Moor up, Teas, Coffees, (soup +roll in winter)
