Mendeley (www.mendeley.com) is a start-up developing social software and Web 2.0 tools to transform the way science is done. Our vision is to create a “Last.fm for Research”. We’re funded by and working with some of the people who built Skype and Last.fm, as well as prominent academics from world-class universities. This year, we have won the Plugg “European Start-Up of the Year” Award, the TechCrunch Europas Award 2009 for “Best Social Innovation That Benefits Society” and were finalists at “The Next Web Start-Up of the Year”.

Mendeley consists of two parts: Mendeley Desktop, free cross-platform software (Win, Mac, Linux) for managing and sharing research papers, and Mendeley Web, a website for managing research papers online, discovering research trends and connecting to like-minded academics. If you want to be part of it, here’s your chance: We’re currently looking for an Online Business Intern to join our team!

What you’ll be doing:
• Conceptualize and implement the online business development roadmap
• Conceptualize and manage the implementation of new features
• Develop and test ideas for improving Mendeley’s web page
• Evaluate the usefulness of new technologies
• Support business project management
• Be involved in our day-to-day operations
• Shape Mendeley with your own ideas, enthusiasm and personality

What you should ideally bring:
• Study business, information systems, information/library sciences, or a related field in your final year
• Initial knowledge of web technologies and be technically minded
• Project experience in the Internet, “Web 2.0”, social software/networks, and/or academic databases
• Interest in the academic area
• 6 months of your time
